SUMMARY:GP in Oncology Education Program - Start Date
DESCRIPTION:An eight-week learning opportunity for new General Practitioners in Oncology to strengthen their oncology skills and enhance cancer care in their communities. \nMandate:\nCompletion of the GPO Education Program is a requirement for family physicians newly hired as GPOs in BC and the Yukon (both within community cancer clinics and at BC Cancer Centres). The program provides opportunity to gain the foundational knowledge\, skills\, and confidence to administer systemic therapy\, and to provide supportive care to cancer patients and their families. \nThe program includes a two-week didactic introductory module\, offered in February and September\, followed by 30 days of flexibly scheduled clinical rotation at the BC Cancer Centre where the GPO’s patients are referred. During the clinical rotations\, systemic therapy orders need to be co-signed by a medical oncologist or qualified GPO. \nBackground:\nBC Cancer developed the GPO Education Program in 2004\, with the support of the UBC’s Department of Family Practice Enhanced Skills Program\, and with input from many family physicians and oncologists. Special thanks are also extended to BC Cancer physicians and members of the GPO Education Program Working Group who deliver the education and ensure the currency and value of the curriculum. \nOne hundred and sixteen family physicians from 33 communities have completed the program to date and are actively practising as General Practitioners in Oncology. (See GPO Map.) BC Cancer also trains GPOs and Nurse Practitioners for its various sites through this program. \nAccreditation:\nThe Introductory Module is accredited as below. \nThe University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide study credits for continuing medical education for physicians. This Introductory Module of this course has been reviewed and approved by the UBC CPD. This Group Learning course meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 63.75 Mainpro+ credits. Each physician should claim only those credits he/she actually spent in the activity. \nThose who complete the 30 days of Clinical Rotation can claim 50 Self-Learning\, Mainpro+ credits under the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s Clinical Traineeship/Preceptorship category. Additional credits can be claimed under the Other Non-certified Learning Activities category. \nTo Apply:\nClick here for GPO Education Program Applicant Eligibility Criteria  \nApplication submission for the fall intake of the GPO Education Program will open May 1. The two-week Introductory Module is normally offered at BC Cancer’s Vancouver Centre every February and September. The following 30 days of Clinical Rotation – a required part of the full program for GPOs – are organized individually to meet participants’ schedules. \nUpcoming sessions in times of COVID-19: \n\nFall 2022 will be delivered virtually with morning lectures\, September 12 – 23\, and afternoon lectures\, October 3 – 17. \n\nTo apply please complete and submit the application form according to your program plans: \n\n2 Week Introductory Module Only Application Form \n8 Week Community GPO Application Form\n8 Week BC Cancer Centre GPO Application Form \n2 Week Nurse Practitioner Application Form \n\nPlease submit your form with all required documents as one pdf file by email to dilraj.mahil@bccancer.bc.ca \nKindly submit your application at your earliest convenience.

SUMMARY:C3 Leadership Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:For 12 years\, the Leadership Conference has been one of C3’s flagship events. The Leadership Conference is centered around professional and personal growth that has attracted over 1000+ attendees in that time span. The full-day conference aims to support post-secondary students\, recent graduates and young professionals by providing the following resources: \n\ncareer-focused workshops\nnetworking opportunities\npersonal mentorship sessions\nprofessional + interpersonal connections\ninspirational keynote speeches and much more.\n\nOur aim is to continue to foster leadership and growth opportunities for the next generation through key events such as the Leadership Conference. \nWorkshop 1: Navigating the Post-Pandemic Job Market \nThe COVID19 pandemic affected the way we think about jobs\, careers\, and our general well-being. It’s also changed our work environments and how we adapt to the ever changing job market. We’ve invited a panel of experts in recruitment and human resources to help navigate the implications of these changes and guidance on how to overcome these challenges. \nWorkshop 2A: Discover Your Personal Brand & Stand Out In a Competitive Job Market \nNew York Times bestselling author\, Dan Schawbel\, once said “Brand yourself for the career you want\, not the job you have.” Most people have multiple jobs in their life and building your personal brand provides you with untapped opportunities to optimize your career. This workshop will discuss steps on building your own brand to help stand out in the job market through developing your talent\, network\, brand\, and niche. \nWorkshop 2B: Making Cents of Money \nSchool has taught us Finance courses but we have never been taught how to manage our OWN finances. As a new grad who landed your first job or as a young professional working for a few years\, you may have struggled with how to budget\, save\, and invest your paycheque. Whether your financial goals are to pay off your student loans\, or to save up for a home\, wedding\, or travel\, understanding how to be money savvy will help you reach financial independence. This workshop will focus on how to optimize your finances and develop a better understanding of the tools\, options\, and opportunities available for you to “make cents of money.” \nWorkshop 3A: Women in Business & How to Reach Your Full Potential \nWomen in the job market and as entrepreneurs do not make as much money as men. For one\, less than 3% of all Venture Capital funding goes to women. Our speaker\, a serial entrepreneur who has built up and sold businesses\, had her challenges as a female in the world of start-ups that are largely dominated by males. Our speaker will share her experience on how she had defied the odds and was able to stand out as a business leader. Join the workshop to learn more about how you can overcome obstacles as a woman in business and to reach your full potential. \nWorkshop 3B: Entrepreneurship: The State of Business \nHave you ever considered being your own boss? This entrepreneurship panel includes business owners from traditional brick and mortar\, to turnkey technology companies to shed light on the current state of entrepreneurship. The panel of speakers will share their insights from their own experiences in navigating the ups and downs\, do’s and don’ts\, and the never ending rollercoaster of “being your own boss.”
